DAREEN LAW AND FLYING LIZARD MOTORSPORTS TAKE
THIRD CONSECUTIVE PODUM AT ALMS INFINEON GRAND PRIX
Despite dominating
the GT class for much of the July 18th running of the American Le
Mans Series Infineon Grand Prix of Sonoma, Darren Law and Johannes
van Overbeck had to settle for second place following a pit lane
technical infraction. The Flying Lizard drivers had taken the team's
#45 silver and red ShoreTel/eSilicon/Brocade Porsche GT3 RSR to
as much as a full lap lead of the GT field during the 2 hour 45
minute endurance event.
Although they took the checkered flag well ahead of the remaining
GT class cars, Law and van Overbeek were notified of the 42 second
penalty following the event. The penalty placed the Flying Lizard
car 2nd, behind the Alex Job Porsche of Timo Bernhard and Jorg Bergmeister.
Despite the 2nd place finish, Law of Phoenix and van Overbeek of
San Francisco continue to lead the GT class championship points
race, and are cautiously optimistic heading to the next event.
"I can't say we were all that happy about the decision to dock
us the 42 seconds," remarked Law following the race. "But
rules are there for a reason, and it does feel good to know that
we were able to win on track. It's shaping up to be a tough fight
to the end of the season."
The next stop for the Flying Lizard squad is Portland International
