LAW, DONOHUE, AND BRUMOS PORSCHE COME HOME
5TH FOR ROLEX PAUL REVERE 250 AT DAYTONA
After
qualifying off pole and running near the front all evening, Darren
Law and David Donohue brought the #58 Red Bull Brumos Porsche Fabcar
Daytona Prototype to the checkered flag a season high 5th position
for the Rolex Grand American Paul Revere 250 at Daytona International
Speedway. After running in third for much of his stint, Law
fell victim to the famous Daytona draft, and was passed on the banking
by the #20 Citgo Crawford of Andy Wallace and the #4 Boss Motorsports
Crawford of Butch Leitzinger.
"We had a great run going," remarked Law following the
race. "I had a great dice with Andy Wallace, and was
doing everything I could to keep him back there. On the final
lap coming out of NASCAR turn 4 Andy and I were side by side, and
I couldn't do anything as I watched both he and the #4 car pull
past me to the checkered flag. It was a good race for sure,
but I got caught out by the draft."
Darren was encouraged at the Brumos Porsche's speed, as the car
was qualified a season high second.
"David really did a great job in qualifying," said Law.
"I think he turned about as good a lap as we could get out
of the car, and it shows that little by little we are starting to
run closer and closer to the front. The rest of this season
should be interesting."
PRERACE ACTVITIES
The morning before the race, Law, Donohue and several other Rolex
series drivers visited camp Boggy Creek. The year round camp
located in southern Florida was established for children ranging
in ages 7-16 who have been afflicted with chronic or life threatening
illnesses.
Law spent the day viewing the facility and even took time to serve
lunch to some of the kids.
"It's good to be in a position that allows us to do things
like this," said Law who has two young girls of his own. "My
heart goes out to some of these kids."
