DAREEN LAW EARN HARD-FOUGHT VICTORY WITH FLYING
LIZARD MOTORSPORTS AT ALMS MID-OHIO ENDURO
Fresh from
a hard fought win at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, ALMS regular
Darren Law and the Flying Lizard team are hoping to again put the
team's #45 ShoreTel/eSilicon/Brocade Porsche GT3 RSR into victory
lane at the ALMS New England Grand Prix. The 3rd round of
the 2004 American Le Mans season will be held at Lime Rock Park
in Lakeville, Connecticut July 2 - 5. Law will be back with
season long co-driver Johannes van Overbeek of San Francisco, and
both drivers are eager to tackle the tight and twisty Lime Rock
circuit for the scheduled 2 hour and 45 minute endurance contest.
Law is optimistic of the team's chances for success, but is also
aware of the competition involved. "We flat out had a great
race at Mid-Ohio, and we're hoping we can continue to perform at
that level," remarked Law. "The ALMS is a truly
great endurance series though, and we are up against some great
racing efforts. We're going to have to be on the top of our
game every weekend."
The New England Grand Prix marks the first time that the ALMS has
visited Lime Rock. The tight 1.5 mile circuit promises close
racing action for all four classes of cars.
"I really enjoy Lime Rock," said Law when asked about
the tight confines of the Lime Rock circuit combined with 30 race
cars. "It'll be some great race action for sure, and
traffic will probably play a big roll in the outcome of the race.
Lap times will be pretty quick, so pit strategy is going to be extremely
important."
After a three-month break between the Sebring and Watkins Glen races,
the ALMS schedule packs in five races over the next two months.
"We're definitely going to be very busy over the next couple
of months," said Law. "Back to back race weekends
can take their toll, and it will be a test of how well the teams
can adapt. I'm very confident in the ability of the Flying
Lizard team to tackle this challenge."
The New England Grand Prix is set to begin at 3:00 pm EST Saturday
July 5. The race will be carried live on SPEED. Log
