DARREN LAW DEBUTS IN ALEX JOB RACING PORSCHE AT PORTLAND GRAND PRIX

Longtime Porsche endurance racer Darren Law, of Phoenix Arizona, had a successful debut during his stint in the number 24/Bell Microproducts/ ProVest/Porsche 911 GT3 RSR at Saturday evening’s American Le Mans Series Portland Grand Prix at Portland International Raceway. Law, who has won championships in 911 GT race cars in the past, was honored to be selected by the Alex Job Racing organization. Law will be competing in three of the four events remaining on the 2005 ALMS schedule, and will be teamed with Ian Baas of Nobelsville, Indiana.

Qualifying

Law qualified the #24 entry 6th in the GT2 field with a lap of 1:13.495 around the 1.967 mile natural terrain Portland International Raceway roadcourse that sports a newly revised turn 1 and 2 'Festival' curves complex.

Race Action

An electrical problem discovered shortly before the event forced Law to start the race at the back of the field. Law made short work of the traffic in front of him, and was able to work his way back to 6th within the first few laps of the 90 lap event. Darren eventually pitted for fuel, tires and a driver change in 5th place in the GT2 class field. Shortly after the driver change, the #24 suffered a mechanical problem. The car was retired and classified as having finished 9th in class.

Quotes

Darren Law:
"I think my stint in the car went pretty well. I made up a few positions early on, and then settled into a competitive pace with the leaders. I'm looking forward to our next event at Elkhart Lake, which is a track I really enjoy."
