HARD FOUGHT 6TH PLACE FINISH FOR LAW, MCCALMONT, AND ZOOM MOTORSPORTS IN GRAND AM CUP MILLER 200

Road racing ace Darren Law of Phoenix and teammate Mike McCalmont of Ancaster, Canada took their #6 Toronto Tank Lines Zoom Motorsports prepared Porsche 996 to a hard fought 6th place finish in the second round of the 2005 Grand Am Cup series in Santo Domingo this past weekend.  With their stunning black and silver Porsche, McCalmont and Law joined the field of 35 Grand Sports cars, as they put on a terrific show to mark their first ever visit to the tight and technical Las Americas Autodromo in Santo Domingo.
 
Team principal McCalmont slotted the 06 car in 24th position during the qualifying session with a lap of 1 minute 25.8 seconds around the 1.6-mile road course, and took the green flag for the 3-hour endurance contest.  McCalmont turned the car over to Law after a 50-lap stint that saw the drivers endure increasingly warm on-track and in-car temperatures.
 
"The track is really tight and twisty, and it made things relatively busy in the racecar," remarked McCalmont after his stint behind the wheel.  "Darren was able to turn some pretty quick laps in practice, so I have the feeling he will be able to work his way up to the front.  Another top ten finish would be good for us."
 
Law took over the Zoom Motorsports entry and over the remaining laps sliced his way through the field to 6th place at the checkered flag.  In the process, Law was able to turn the fastest Porsche 996 lap of the race.
 
"The track had a bunch of really tight corners, and it was tough on the rear tires," said Law at the end of the race.  "I just concentrated on getting by as many people as I could.  The car handled really well and was very consistent thanks to our engineer Greg Fordahl. I drove hard the whole time I was out there, and I have to thank our crew chief Kirk Spencer and the whole Zoom crew for doing a great job."
 
The Zoom Motorsports team also fielded a BMW E46 M3 for Kenny Wilden and team coprincipal Al Wortzman which finished 7th, as well as another Porsche 996 under the Doncaster banner for David Lacey and Greg Wilkins.
 
The Zoom crew will be on the road again as they to California Speedway in Fontana, California April 1st and 2nd for the California 200.
