LAW, DONOHUE,
AND BRUMOS PORSCHE SHOW COMPETITIVE WET WEATHER FORM WITH 7TH PLACE
FINISH AT MONT-TREMBLANT
It was a wet and wild weekend of racing for Grand American Rolex
Sports Car Series regulars Darren Law, David Donohue and the #58
Red Bull Brumos Porsche squad as they tackled the daunting and technical
Mont-Tremblant circuit in Quebec, Canada for the Rolex Grand American
6 Heures du Circuit Mont-Tremblant.
European road racing champion Sascha Maassen joined the team for
the 6 hour endurance race, and the trio was able to secure a competitive
7th place finish in the difficult track conditions. With a lap of
1:31.480, David Donohue slotted the #58 car 9th on gird, and Law
took the car over for the first of his two stints on lap 24 of the
188 lap event.
A total of five caution periods punctuated the event, and several
cars had problems throughout the race due to the rain. The Red Bull
Brumos Porsche entry survived the race unscathed, although telemetry
and radio contact were lost early on, making the conditions that
much more difficult for the drivers.
"All in all it was a good weekend for us," remarked Darren.
"We were competitive and ran in the top 10 most of the race.
The Brumos Porsche was a top 10 car all weekend. We ran as high
as 4th, and although we ended up 7th I thought the rain was a good
equalizer for us. We could definitely run competitive times in the
wet.
"We are continuously going through many changes to the car,"
continued Law. "We are hoping that Watkins will continue to
show improvement for us. The team did a great job in the pits and
we didn't really have any issues there. We lost telemetry and radios
in the first hour and spent the entire race without them so it added
a bit of a challenge. I was definitely encouraged by our run this
past weekend."
The Grand American Rolex Sports Car Series will travel to Watkins
Glen for the Sahlen's Six Hours of the Glen to be held June10-12.
