LAW AND BRUMOS SHOW COMPETITIVE SPEED AND POTENTIAL AT GAINSCO GRAND PRIX

The weekend may not have ended as well as the Darren Law, David Donohue and the Brumos crew may have wanted, but the #58 team served notice that they have every intention of being a competitive force throughout the remainder of the 2008 Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series presented by Crown Royal Cask No. 16 2008 season.   The Gainsco Grand Prix of Miami marked the second race of the 2008 schedule, and was won by Scott Pruett and Memo Rojas in the 01 Telmex Lexus Riley entry, but also saw the #58 take a commanding pole position in the hands of David Donohue after being near the front of every practice session for the weekend. Contact in the race would relegate the #58 Brumos Porsche Riley to 19th in class, after finishing 59 laps, but it was clear to the entire Daytona Prototype paddock that Law and Donohue have an increasingly competitive package under them.

Law has worked hard in the off season both on his own with physical conditioning and with the team in terms of many laps of testing throughout the winter.  Darren, who finished second in the 2007 worldwide Porsche Cup standings based on points from both the Brumos Porsche program and his ALMS program, and is hoping to do that little bit better this year. Law is optimistic as he feels that the Brumos machine is becoming increasingly competitive.

“We’ve talked about having some good races before,” remarked Darren. “Although the finish of this one wasn’t as good as we had hoped for, we all knew that we had a fast car, and I think everyone out there knew the same thing.  We’ve run well in Homestead before, but this is the most competitive I’ve seen the #58 outside Daytona, and it is really encouraging.”

Law will travel south of the border for the Mexico City 250 at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez where Law and Donohue enjoyed some success last year finishing 6th after running near the front most of the event.  With a long season of racing still ahead, Law will be working hard to gain valuable points for the driver’s championship race.
